Clindamycin
Description
A viscous formulation containing clindamycin hydrochloride that is intended for intraoral administration. Each mL contains clindamycin hydrochloride equivalent to 20 mg clindamycin, in a matrix that undergoes sol-to-gel transition (patent pending). Its primary intended use is to temporarily act as a barrier for food particle and microorganism intrusion following an extensive cleaning and scaling of teeth in conditions such as plaque, gingivitis, and periodontitis. Teeth should be cleaned and scaled prior to application of the product. If required, root planing and debridement of affected sites should be performed. The product is applied topically with the animal under sedation or anesthesia. Use as many units as required to fill the periodontal pockets of affected teeth. Reduces or inhibits opportunistic microbial colonization on the device and device-related infections. The formulation slowly resorbs over a period of 7�10 days. Supplied as 4 ready-to-use single-dose units with blunt-nosed cannulas. For periodontal use in dogs and cats only.
