Description
OraVet Dental Hygiene Chews work to combat plaque, calculus and halitosis in dogs. Each daily chew releases delmopinol hydrochloride, a surfactant used in human oral rinse, to create a barrier that prevents bacterial attachment. When bacteria can’t attach, they can’t produce plaque biofilms or the volatile sulfur compounds of halitosis. The scrubbing action of the chew works in parallel to effectively remove plaque and calculus. Data on file with Merial shows that Oravet dental hygiene chews, when taken daily, have shown a 53 percent reduction in halitosis, a 42 percent reduction in plaque and a 54 percent reduction in calculus compared to dry diet alone. The chews are for dogs over 6 months of age and are available through veterinarians only.
