By measuring infrared heat waves emanated from an animal's eardrum region, the Vet-Temp provides an accurate reading of core body temperature in one second.

The life span of the battery is over 20,000 temperatures with a shelf life up to 10 years. If the Vet-Temp were used 20 times a day, 6 days per week, the battery would last approximately 4 years. For battery replacement, the Vet-Temp must be returned to the Mfr.
